  • No parade this year.

    Categories:
    A - Schools and Youth Group (4-H, FFA, Show teams, FCCLA)
    B - Floats, Civic, Commercial, and Non-commercial
    Floats will be judged based on appearance, animation, creativity and following the theme.
    C - Marching Units
    D - Decorated vehicles, ATVs, and Motorcycles
    E - Cars, Trucks, and Tractors (Antique, Classic, Reproductions)
    F - Motorcycles (Must be decorated in theme)
    G - Best Dressed Cowboy
    H - Best Dressed Cowgirl
    I - Animal entries (horseback, animal drawn wagons, etc.)
    J - Fair Queens (Not eligible to be judged.)
    K - Bicycles and Strollers (Kids under 12)

    All units will pause in front of the judges and remain in place for one minute.
    Winners will receive Van Buren County ribbons.

    NOTE: Before lining up, ALL entries must check in with the Parade Chairperson.
    ALL horses, donkeys, and mules must comply with Arkansas Act #1306.

    START TIME is 5:00 PM with Senior Contest to follow after a brief intermission.

    Rehearsal Thursday, September 7th from 6 - 8 pm

    Juniors (10 – 15 years of age)
    after a brief intermission
    Seniors (16 to 20 years of age)

    Rules:

    1. The Van Buren County Youth Talent contest will be held in the Graham Weatherly Building on Saturday, September 9th.

    2. Rehearsal will be Thursday, September 7th 6-8 p.m.

    3. Sign up EARLY!   During fair week sign up at VBC Fair Office

    4. ALL contestants MUST be signed up by 5 p.m. on Saturday of fair week.  Applications will not be accepted after 5 p.m. day of   contest.

    5. The entry form must be signed by the contestant and a parent or guardian if under 18 years of age AND by a county fair official.  The signed form must be received by the contest chairman no later than 5:00 p.m. before the youth talent contest.

    6. Official age limits are from ten years (10) to twenty years (20), inclusive.

    7. Contestants must be single and never have been married or have children.

    8. Contestants must be residents of Van Buren County (no exceptions) or attend school in the county.

    9. No one contestant will be permitted to enter in more than one class except with groups of five or more.

    10. Instrumentalists should bring their own instruments. There will not be a piano available. If an accompanist is required, contestants must make their own arrangements. If a CD is used the tape should identified with the name of the contestant and song and have only one track on it and should be cued and ready to play and given to the sound person upon arrival. A CD with more than one track will not be accepted. It is recommended that a second CD be available in case of an emergency.

    11. All talent competition numbers must not be more than 3 minutes in length. Contestants are free to choose what they desire to wear while performing (please dress appropriately). Any inappropriate dress/costumes, inappropriate lyrics of a song in the vocal and variety categories, or inappropriate moves in the dance and variety categories will result in immediate disqualification. The contest directors have the right to interrupt a performance if it is not deemed suitable for the Youth Talent Competition.

    12. Categories are: Vocal Solo, Vocal Group, Dance Solo, Dance Group, Instrumental Solo and Variety. Variety acts cannot have more than 12 people. Acts in which multiple talents are displayed should be in the Variety Category Acts that qualify for the Variety Category are song and dance, vocal and live instrumental, lip sync, pantomimes, impersonations, skits, juggling, ventriloquism, magic, gymnastics (be sure to check stage dimensions), karate, cheerleading, or other talent that does not fit in the other categories.

    NOTE: 
    There are two contests:
    Junior - ten to 15 years
    Senior - 16 to 20 years.

    7. MANNERS, BEHAVIOR, APPEARANCE & GROOMING WILL BE OBSERVED AT ALL TIMES FROM REGISTRATION THRU THE CONTEST.

    8. ANY DISPLAY OF POOR SHOWMANSHIP AND/OR UNBECOMING CONDUCT, INTERFERENCE, OR ANY BEHAVIORAL PROBLEM CREATED BY ACONTESTANT, PARENT, RELATIVE, OR SUPPORTER OF A CONTESTANT WILL RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION OF THE CONTESTANT FOR ALL FUTURE CONTESTS

  • All persons enter the fairgrounds during regulated hours (those listed above for admission) will be charged an admission fee. Volunteers must contact their event leader for work day gate passes.

    Remember -- Admission fees support the Van Buren County Fair & Livestock Association and the organization directing parking. Parking will be staffed by a different nonprofit youth group each day.

General Fair Rules and Exhibits Information

  • NOTICE ***Any and all political advertizing must have a permit that can be obtained at the VBC Fair Office. All political paraphernalia must be kept within the confines of paid booth space. All items given away must be approved by Fair Manager as no items may be distributed that are in direct conflict with VBC Fair kitchen or VBC Fair carnival. Thank you for your cooperation. No posting without permission!

    1. All animals, articles and exhibits competing for prizes will be entered and shown by one owner, maker or grower.

    2. The Fair Association reserves the right to accept or reject any exhibit before or after it is entered.

    3. The Fair Association provides general security on the grounds. All property taken on to the grounds or into the buildings are kept entirely at risk of owner. The Van Buren County Livestock Show and Fair Association will not be responsible for loss or damage to exhibits but will exercise all possible care for their protection. Each participant or group is responsible for the security of their individual function. If malicious mischief occurs, contact a Fair Association officer. If necessary, authorities will be called.

    4. Each organization is held responsible for daily trash cleanup within its area. FINES WILL BE ASSESSED to anyone not complying with the rules.

    5. No vehicle traffic will be permitted in carnival, exhibit or livestock areas after initial set-up. There are designated parking areas for workers.

    6. All livestock entries will be released after 8 p.m. Saturday. Removal of livestock before these dates and times will result in forfeited prize money. Homemaking items will be released Sunday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Exhibits removed before these times forfeit any prizes won.

    Merchants Display Contest Rules:

    The contest is open to all businesses and organizations in Van Buren County. All participants must include the fair theme and fair dates in their display. All participants must leave displays in place through Saturday, September 12, 2020.

    Displays in ALL categories must be ready for judging no later than 9 a.m. on Friday BEFORE THE VBC FAIR OPEN ON MONDAY.

    Category 1 – Dimensional window display
    Category 2 – Outside or inside doorway display
    Category 3 – Painted or flat window display

    BE ORIGINAL AND BE CREATIVE!

    RIBBONS WILL BE AWARDED IN EACH CATEGORY FOR BEST OF SHOW and FIRST, SECOND, AND THIRD PLACES.

    Donate a cookie jar to the Cookie Jar Competition and Auction, we will mention your business name during the auction. The businesses that enter will be in a competition for a trophy.

  • 2022 LIVESTOCK DEPARTMENT RULES AND REGULATIONS

    ARKANSAS LIVESTOCK HEALTH REQUIREMENTS

    1. AII animals entering the grounds,including those showing in pet zoos, children’s barnyard animals, Old McDonalds Farms, etc. must meet the requirements of their particular species.

    2. Arkansas Livestock, (except for Arkansas horses, goats, sheep, steers and rabbits) must be accompanied by a

    Certificate of Veterinary Inspection issued within 90 days prior to exhibition, showing the following:

    ARKANSAS CATTLE

    1. If Arkansas is a Class Free State, Arkansas cattle are exempt from brucellosis testing. If Arkansas is not a Class Free

    State, then the following testing requirements must be met: Negative brucellosis test within 90 days prior to exhibition for

    females and bulls 18 months of age and over. All heifers that have calved or are bred must be tested. Animals originating

    from a Certified Brucellosis Free Herd are exempt if the Certified Free Herd number is shown on certificate.

    1. All heifers that are 4-12 months of age shall be vaccinated before entering show.

    2. Heifers that were born on or after January 1, 1985, that are over 12 months of age and are not official calf hood

    vaccinates will not be allowed to show (unless they are from a Brucellosis Certified Free Herd,) This will not apply if Arkansas continues as a Brucellosis Free State

    1. All rodeo stock exhibited at a rodeo in Arkansas must meet the out of state requirements for brucellosis and tuberculosis for (12) month and older bulls, roping and dogging steers, and heifers even if the rodeo stock originates from Arkansas. Tie down roping calves are exempt from the tuberculosis testing requirements. The exception is a CVI within the state is good for ninety (90) days instead of thirty days.

    ARKANSAS SWINE

    1. As of July 1, 2001, all swine must have an official 840 tag.

    2. Animals six (6) months old or older to be tested negative for brucellosis within ninety (90) days of exhibition or originate

    directly out of a Validated Herd, with Validation number and date of last herd test shown on certificate (barrows exempt

    from brucellosis testing but must be pseudorabies tested.)

    1. Animals to be tested negative for pseudorabies regardless of age within ninety (90) days of the exhibition on a test approved

    by the State Veterinarian or originate directly out of a Qualified Pseudorabies Free Herd, with Qualified Herd number and

    date of last test shown on certificate.

    1. Free of other contagious, infectious, and communicable diseases (erysipelas, atrophic rhinitis, etc.); other wise they will

    not be allowed to show and will be released from fairgrounds.

    ARKANSAS SHEEP AND GOATS

    Exhibition officials must maintain records of all sheep and goats that are exhibited for a period of five years to include: 

    1. Identification Number

    2. Flock status as defined by the Voluntary Flock Certification Program

    3. The name, complete address and phone number of the owner.

    All instate sheep and goats in the state of Arkansas must be identified by an official USDA tag scrapie tag) or for goats a legible

     official goat registry tattoo if accompanied by a registration certificate.

    Fair personnel, veterinarians, or state-federal personnel may examine sheep on grounds. Any sheep showing clinical symptoms of Scrapie shall be immediately quarantined in isolation and required to undergo any approved diagnostic test and shall be consigned to slaughter or destruction with submission of tissues to an approved diagnostic laboratory at the exhibitor’s expense.

    Commingling (as defined by the Arkansas Scrapie Regulation) of sheep or goats of different flock status as defined by the Voluntary Flock Certification Program (VFCP) is prohibited and must be reported to the VFCP state official and State Veterinarian.

    No sheep or goats showing symptoms of disease, particularly foot rot, sore mouth, sheep pox, evidence of fungal infection, evidence of abscesses or with draining abscesses will be allowed to show and may be released by fair officials, veterinarians, or state- federal personnel

    ARKANSAS RABBITS

    Rabbits will be inspected on the grounds. No rabbits showing symptoms of disease will be allowed to show.

    ARKANSAS HORSES

    Negative EIA test required within the past twelve (12) months for all animals over 6 months of age. Nursing foals under

    6 months of age are exempt from testing if accompanied by negative tested dams. Photocopies of the test papers will

    not be accepted; carbon copies are acceptable.

     The Van Buren County Fair Association may request any health papers or certificates we deem necessary when participating in any equine (horse) related event, On or OFF the Van Buren County Fair Grounds, sanctioned by the Van Buren County Livestock Show & Fair Association.

    ARKANSAS CERVIDS

    1. Certificate of veterinary inspection.

    2. Negative clerical tuberculosis test within ninety (90) days.

    3. Negative brucellosis test within ninety (90) days.

    4. Or originate from a Certified Brucellosis-Free and Accredited Tuberculosis Cervids Herd 

    5. Or originate from a Brucellosis-Monitored and a Qualified Tuberculosis Herd within ninety (90) days of exhibition.

    ARKANSAS CAMELIDS

    1. Individually identified, and certificate of veterinary inspection within ninety (90) days of exhibition.

    2. Registration papers when accompanied by registry photographs of the animal are acceptable identification.

    ARKANSAS RATITES

    ARKANSAS POULTRY

    An official representing the exhibition shall notify the state veterinarian no later than thirty (30) days prior to the exhibition,

    giving names, place, inclusive dates, and time of the event.

    The requirements are as follows:

    1. All in-state poultry, which includes domesticated game birds, quail, pheasants, peafowl, guineas, and turkeys, present

    at exhibition in Arkansas shall have originated from U.S. Pullorum- Typhoid Clean or equivalent flocks or have had

    negative Pullorum-Typhoid test within (90) days of the movement to the exhibition (Pullorum Typhoid testing on fairgrounds

    during the fair is prohibited.). This information will be documented on a NPIP from VS 9-3, 90-day certificate, NPIP Flock

    Certification Form or similar certificate which will accompany the poultry during the exhibition.

    1. All non-certified birds must be banded (leg or wing band), with a sealed band. Wrap-around plastic bands are not

    acceptable. In-state waterfowl are exempt from pullorum-typhoid requirements.

    3.Any poultry showing evidence of infectious or contagious disease or insect infestation will not be permitted to exhibit.

    1. Record Keeping-The sponsor of the exhibition shall compile a list of all poultry present at the exhibition This list shall

    contain the name and address of each owner, the number, the species, the breed, variety, type, sex and Pullorum-Typhoid

    status of all poultry present. A copy of this list shall be retained by the sponsor of the exhibition for at least twelve (12)

    months.

    General Rules & Regulations 

    1.The Van Buren County Fair Association follows all the rules and regulations of the Arkansas State fair concerning ownership, classes, health regulations, and number of entries and Exhibitor Eligibility. The only exceptions to this is the Horse Show and the Prospect Steer Show. IF YOU CAN SHOW IT AT THE ARKANSAS STATE FAIR YOU CAN SHOW IT HERE. IF YOU CAN NOT SHOW IT AT THE ARKANSAS STATE FAIR YOU CAN NOT SHOW IT HERE SORRY. THIS APPLYS TO BOTH ANIMALS AND EXHIBITORS ELIGIBILITY.

    2.Exhibitor eligibility OPENS SHOWS are open to anyone that lives in Van Buren County, Attends a Van Buren County School or does not exhibit at any other County Fair. JUNIOR SHOWS are restricted to Van Buren County 4H or FFA Members in good standing, Certification of Junior Exhibitors membership will be required from the County Agent or Agricultural Education Advisor. Junior Exhibitors must be 5 years of age and cannot have reached their 20th birthday by the Opening day of the Van Buren County Fair 9/6/22. Exhibitors may not show in a Junior Show any later than the Fall after graduating from high School or receiving a GED certificate or its equivalent regardless of their age. 

    1. Ownership deadline for ALL Livestock at the Arkansas State Fair is June 26, 2022 but for this years Van Buren County Fair it will be July 15 2022. 

    1. All exhibitors of livestock with the exception of poultry and rabbits

    must be present to show their entries in the proper class unless approved by the Livestock Superintendent. Junior exhibitors will show their own animals. If they have more than one animal in a class another eligible junior exhibitor may assist. If a Junior exhibitor is sick, injured, has a death in the family or serious family illness or is involved in another school function at the time of the show the Livestock Superintendent will allow another Eligible Junior exhibitor to show their animal. Substitute Junior Exhibitors must have another animal of any species entered in there name at the 2022 Van Buren County Fair. The Livestock Superintendent decision on substitute exhibitors eligibility is Final

    1. All animals must be properly groomed before entering show arena.

    7.Van Buren County Fair Association will not furnish feed, hay, bedding, or water containers for the livestock.

    1. The Livestock Superintendent reserves the right to remove from the grounds any exhibit or animal that may be falsely entered or

    deemed unsuitable or objectionable without assigning a reason.

    1. Each exhibitor is responsible for having his/her animal(s) presented in its natural conformation and structure without

    alteration or modification, except for the grooming of hair and hooves. Anyone violating this rule will be required to return

    all premium money and could be banned from further competition.

    1. All Animals must be in place according to the Schedule for their Species with the required health papers and/ or registration papers or animals will not be allowed to be unloaded.

    11.All Animals will be released according to the Schedule for their Species unless approved by the Livestock Superintendent for early release or all Premium Money including Livestock Auction money will be forfeited.

    1. Junior exhibitors will exhibit in Junior Show only. Open exhibitors will exhibit in Open Show only. Junior exhibitors may

    assist in showing Open Exhibitors animals in the Open Show.

    1. TO BE ELIGIBLE TO EXHIBIT IN THE JUNIOR LIVESTOCK SHOW YOU MUST BE A MEMBER IN GOOD STANDING OF A VAN BUREN COUNTY 4H CLUB OR A VAN BUREN COUNTY FFA CHAPTER. THE OPEN SHOW IS FOR ADULTS OVER THE AGE OF 19 AND KIDS UNDER THE AGE OF 19 THAT ARE NOT MEMBERS OF 4H OR FFA

    1. Ages of exhibitors entering a showmanship contest will be set as of how old that you are on Tuesday 9/6/22 the opening day of the fair.

    1. Exhibitors are allowed to show for both Grand and Reserve Grand Champion in any show regardless of any livestock premium auction rules however only one animal will be allowed to be sold in the livestock premium auction.

    JR LIVESTOCK PREMIUM AUCTION

    Rules & Regulations 

    1. TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THE LIVESTOCK PREMIUM AUCTION YOU MUST BE A MEMBER IN GOOD STANDING OF A VAN BUREN COUNTY 4H CLUB OR A VAN BUREN COUNTY FFA CHAPTER.

    1. A 5% Commission will be taken out of ALL funds taken in through the Livestock Premium Sale, Add on money to certain places and Add on money at large to purchase buyers plaques, Grand Championship Belt Buckles and for discretionary show expenses deemed needed by the Livestock Committee. 

    3.The number and type of sale animals will follow the list below if numbers warrant in the Junior Show.

    4.Animals will be set in at market value and sold to the highest bidder. The exhibitor reserves the right to keep his/her animal.

    1. At the end of the premium auction a LIVE auction will begin any Junior exhibitor wishing to outright sell his /her animal will be given the opportunity to do so. The owner of the animal will set the opening bid. If no one bids the animal does not sale. (This is limited to market animals only. These animals will be released to the new owner immediately following the sale.

    1. Each exhibitor is limited to one animal in the Premium Auction. If more than one animal qualifies, the exhibitor will have

     the right to choose which one he/she wants to sell. IF A EXHIBITOR HAS MORE THAN ONE ANIMAL QUALIFIED FOR THE PREMIUM SALE NO OTHER SHOWS WILL BE ALLOWED TO BEGIN UNTIL THE EXHIBITOR HAS RELEASED ONE OF HIS ANIMALS FROM THE PREMIUM SALE.

    1. If rule #6 occurs, the next animal in that species, will then qualify for the Premium Auction. (The judge will be instructed

    to select several alternate animals of each species for when this occurs.)

    1. All animals involved with the Jr. Premium Auction must meet the weight qualifications stipulated in the rules stated in

    the respected qualified areas. Any exhibitor’s animal not meeting the stipulations of these rules will be prohibited from

    participating in the Jr. Auction.

    9.Add on money to certain places will be given to the Exhibitor or group of Exhibitors that the donor designates.

    10.ANY EXHIBITOR MAKING THE PREMIUM SALE WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO DRAW ANY MONEY OUT OF ADD ON MONEY AT LARGE EXCEPT (FIRST) add on money at large will be used to fix any major issues with sale animals by the Livestock Superintendent

    (Second) 5 dollars will be given to each Exhibitor showing Horses, Poultry and Rabbits THAT DID NOT SELL AND ANIMAL IN THE PREMIUM SALE.

    (Third) The remaining money will be divided equally between all of the Exhibitors showing beef cattle, dairy cattle, swine, sheep, and goats NOT MAKING THE PREMIUM SALE by the following rules. Each exhibitor will draw and equal amount out of the remaining add on money at large per animal with a maximum of 2 animals or 2 draws. 

    BEEF CATTLE OR DAIRY CATTLE EXHIBITORS NOT MAKING THE PREMIUM SALE WILL ONLY DRAW OUT OF THE REMAINING ADD ON MONEY AT LARGE ONLY IF FUNDS FROM OTHER OUTSIDE SOURCES IS NOT EQUAL TO OR GREATER THAN ADD ON MONEY AT LARGE FUNDS. BEEF CATTLE OR DAIRY CATTLE WOULD COUNT AS THERE FIRST DRAW.     1. REGISTRATION PAPERS REQUIRED on all animals with exception of commercial heifers, Van Buren County Bred heifers and steers. These papers must be presented to superintendent at time of check in. SORRY NO GRADE BEEF COWS OR BULLS CAN BE SHOWN.

    2 Animals must be registered in the Exhibitors name BY 7/15/22 to be allowed to show. Each exhibitor limited to two animals per class, No Exceptions.

    3.Health requirements as defined by the State Livestock and Poultry Commission will be followed. Heath papers will be checked before entering the grounds.

    4.Entry fees $15.00 per head.

    1. Animals will be in place no later than 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 7, 2022. Animals will be released at 6:00 p.m. Saturday 9/10/22.

    1. Junior exhibitors will exhibit in Junior Show only. A Junior Exhibitor must be a member in good standing of a Van Buren County 4-H Club or FFA Chapter. Open exhibitors will exhibit in Open Show only. Junior exhibitors may

    1. JUNIOR COMMERCIAL HEIFERS are defined as any crossbred female or any percentage female not eligible for registration with any purebred breed association. Commercial heifer ownership deadline is July 15th 2022. No horned heifers or heifers with scurs will be eligible to participate. Minimum weight of 300 pounds there is no maximum weight. 

    1. MARKET STEERS MUST BE OWNED BY THE EXHIBITOR BY July 15th 2022. MINIMUM WEIGHT IS 751lbs THERE IS NO MAXIMUM WEIGHT. Only Steers of beef breeding are allowed to show.

    1. ANY REGISTERED HEIFERS BORN BEFORE 9/1/20 WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO BE IN THE JR LIVESTOCK PREMIUM AUCTION

    1.Registration papers required on all animals except commercial dairy heifers These papers must be presented to superintendent at time of check in.

    2.Animals must be registered in exhibitor’s name BY 7/15/22 to be allowed to show. Each exhibitor limited to two animals per class. No exceptions!

    3.Health requirements as defined by the State Livestock and Poultry Commission will be followed. Health Papers will be checked before entering the grounds.

    1. Wether Dam Goats are defined as any crossbred goat, or maybe purebred provided it is not tattooed, and was not shown in any pure bred shows

    1. Minimum weight for wether dam goats is 35 pounds there is no maximum weight

    1. Wether Dam Goats may not have more than 4 permanent teeth

    1. Goats maybe horned but must be tipped ( no specific length)

    THE FOLLOWING RULES PERTAIN TO JUNIOR AND OPEN REGISTERED BOAR GOATS

    1. ABGA Rules shall govern the shows. All Boar Goats must be registered in the herd book of a recognized association. Recognized Associations include ABGA, USBGA, International Boar Goat Association, and the Canadian Boar Goat Association. 

    1. Percentage Boar Does ( 50% to 93,6 %) and Full Blood Boar Does 15/16 (93.7% or higher) will show against each other. ONLY Full Blood Boar Bucks 31/32 (96.8%) or higher will be allowed to show. 

    1. Base date for figuring age is the date of the show. All goats must exhibit well healed tattoos. Boar Goats may have other means of permanent identification consistent with its registration certificate. If the goat has a microchip as its permanent identification the exhibitor is responsible for providing a microchip reader. 

    32.Any goat showing any pronounced defect or abnormality will not be allowed to show. Artificial coloring is not allowed and will be a disqualification. 

    1. Any Boar Doe over 24 months of age that has no kidding and cannot prove a current pregnancy will not be allowed to show.

    1.Market Hogs will be placed in classes by their official weights without regard to breed. Equal numbers of hogs will be

    put into classes whenever possible. There is no minimum weight for the market hog show but Market Hogs must weigh 300 pounds or less to be eligible for the Jr. Premium Auction. PLUS, OR MINUS 5%.

    2.Commercial Gilts will be placed in classes by their official weights without regard to breed. Equal numbers of gilts will be put into classes whenever possible. There is no minimum or maximum weight to be eligible for the Jr Premium Auction. 

    1. Registration papers required on all hogs entering Breeding classes. These papers must be presented to

    Superintendent at time of check in.

    4.Animals must be registered in exhibitors name. Exhibitor limited to 2 animals per class in Breeding swine show, 2 animals in Market Hog show and 2 animals in Commercial gilt show NO EXCEPTIONS

    5.Proper health papers required and will be checked before entering the fair grounds.

    Rules & Regulations

    1. Animals will be entered from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, September 7, 2022. Animals will be released on Thursday September 8th 2022. At 5:00 p.m. NO ANIMALS WILL BE ALLOWED IN THE BARN BEFORE 9 AM WEDNESDAY 9/7/22.

    1. New laws require testing prior to entering grounds! Animals must be free of Pullorum-Typhoid, Salmonella diseases

    and will be subject to be blood tested on arrival unless the exhibitor has paperwork with them showing that they came from a certified free flock and that they have not been running with any other birds. Water fowl do not have to be tested.

    1. THERE WILL BE A ONE DOLLOR PER BIRD ENTRY FEE CHARGED ON ALL POULTRY TO COVER THE COST OF POULTY TESTING SUPPLIES AND JUDGING FEES EXCEPT FOR THE PEN OF THREE 4H POULTRY CHAIN. THE VAN BUREN COUNTY 4H FOUNDATION WILL PAY 150 DOLLARS TO COVER THE COST OF THE 4H POULTRY CHAIN. THIS ONE DOLLAR PER BIRD ENTRY FEE WILL BE TAKEN OUT OF ALL EXHIBITORS PREMIUM CHECKS BEFORE YOU RECEIVE THEM

    1. Each Exhibitor is limited to two entries per class per breed. The Livestock Superintendents word is final on any chickens that have more than two entries per class per breed

    1. FEEDING, WATERING AND CARE OF ALL POULTY IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE OWNER.

    Rules & Regulations

    1 All Junior and Open. Breeding Show Rabbits can enter on Monday 9/5/22 between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. but they don’t have to be entered until Tuesday 9/6/22 by 11 a.m. All Junior Market Show Rabbits will enter on Tuesday 9/6/22 between 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Animals will be released after all Rabbit shows have finished on Tuesday, September 6, 2022.

    1. All Junior Market Single Fryers and Junior Market Pen of Three Fryers must be entered by September 1, 2022. A Entry fee of 6.00 dollars per Pen must accompany entry forms. 

    1. There will be a 1.00 dollar Entry Fee charged on all Rabbits Entering Junior and Open Registered and Commercial Breeding Classes to cover Judging Expenses. This 1.00 dollar fee will be deducted from all Exhibitors Premium Checks before you receive them. There is a limit of two entries per class per breed in the Junior and Open Registered and Commercial Breeding Rabbit Classes. 

    1. Junior Market Single Fryers and Junior Market Pen of Three Fryers must be 10 weeks of age and age verified by your VO-AG Instructor or Danny Griffin to Enter. They must also weigh between 3.5 lbs. and 5.5 lbs. to Enter. There is no limit to the number of entries that a Junior Exhibitor can have in the Junior Market Single Fryer show or the Junior Market Pen of Three Fryers Show at this time.

    5.All rabbits must be healthy. Judging will be on merit of animals, with emphasis on uniformity, fleshing, fur quality, and overall care of the rabbit.

    1. Junior Market Single Fryers MAY NOT be shown as a part of the Junior Market Pen of Three Fryers. 

    1. FEEDING, WATERING, AND CARE IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE OWNER.

    Rule 1 This contest is for the Senior Showmanship Winners in : Horse, Beef , Dairy, Swine, Sheep, and Goats

    Rule 2 Each Senior Showmanship Winner will pick one Junior Helper age 13 and under as of 9/6/22 to be their assistant

    Rule 3 They will be assigned 1 animal of each species that we are using in the contest. Only the contestant and their Junior Helper will be allowed to touch or groom the animal during the time of this contest. (Except for the owner to feed or water the animal) 

    Rule 4 The Senior Horse showmanship winner will be Eligible to compete in The Best of The Best Showmanship Contest but Horses WILL NOT be allowed to be a class.

    Rule 5 This will be on a point system with first place in each class receiving the most points and last place in each class receiving the least amount of points

    Rule 6 The contestant that totals the most points in the contest will win the Best of the Best Showmanship contest

    This event is designed for children, toddlers through third grade.

    In THE BARN children can experience a day at the farm by becoming THE FARMER. They can:

    • - Milk Bessie, the cow

    • - Gather eggs

    • - Dig potatoes

    • - Pick apples and grapes

    • and many more fun things

    This is a great "kids" activity!

    THE BARN will be open for "SCHOOL BUS DAYS' Day" on Thursday and Friday morning.

    The BARN is open Tuesday through Friday from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM and Saturday from 10:00 AM until 9:00 PM

    Enter an 8x10 matted picture. (No Frame)
    You may enter as many pictures as you would like. Each must be of different cats.

    The picture needs to show the personality of the cat.

    A 3x5 index card attatched by paper clip to the matted part of picture with the following information:

    • Cats name

    • Age & Sex

    • A small description of the cat's favorite things to do, personality, etc.


    There will be an award for a King and Queen cat.

    Photo may be entered into the Art department also as an entry. There will be a chance to get a ribbon there also.
